Valerie Mclean taught painting and drawing for the Royal Forest of Dean College and was involved in many community arts projects in Herefordshire and Gloucestershire.
Now Valerie focuses on her own art, painting in brightly coloured inks, printmaking and making collages. The recent body of work consists of images about May Hill and surrounding countryside now published in book form alongside memories collected from May Hill residents.
It is the power of sacred places to draw and nourish people that interests this artist, whether she produces work relating to medieval churches or special places in the landscape, like May Hill.
